Personality: As a kid in the cusp of puberty, they're somewhat rebellious, a little angry, and ultimately awkward and foolish. Their personal "problem" has left them more or less self-conscious about themselves, and they're prone to being defensive against even the slightest of teasing. They're very attached to their mother though, as a kid their age would be.

They love admiring jewels, enjoying how they shine and glisten. As their mother owns a jewelry store-- specifically her family owns a chain that she has been taking over-- she has been able to at least learn the basics of identifying jewels and gemstones.

Slate is rather intelligent as well, having picked up mostly on the Japanese language, at least in way of speech. Writing it still needs a lot of work, but they're managed to somewhat get down the basics of hiragana and katakana. Kanji is still beyond them.

History: Once upon a time, Samasu Shian went to Russia. There, he met this nice young lady named Katerina Morozova, who had taken a liking to him. Much as he tried to avoid any problems, he one day made a mistake and ended up sleeping with her. Shian, being the panicky sort he was, ended up leaving the country the week after, leaving Katerina to eventually find out that she was pregnant.

While her parents were mostly accepting of the problem, if initially shocked and angry, they supported her through the pregnancy and eventual birth of her son, named Slate. From then on, things were fairly normal, as she grew accustomed to being a single mother and learning to be a business owner, and maybe considering seeking a proper marriage, until a certain day a few years ago, when things sorta... glitched, as a result of the change in contract from the Ultimate Obedient Fiend to Wakahisa Noriko. For some members of the family, it was simply a power surge, but in other cases, it was an entire change-- and in Slate's case, it was a physical change. Namely to be female, instead of male.

Needless to say, this was a harder thing to accept on all accounts. After the initial shock, Slate had to be moved to a new school, and it was hard for them to adapt to it, understandably. It was even harder to conceptualize that such a change even happened, and Katerina spent endless hours trying to find out, why? Why would this happen?

Eventually, Katerina came across some rumors about a city where things like this had been reported before. Usually, she would've disregarded it, but she had noticed that the city was in Japan, and it made her wonder. Shian had been of Japanese descent-- if there was at least a place to start, it'd be a Japanese city, right?

It was eventually decided that they'd move there, at least for now. Partially to open up a new store as a part of the jewelry chain she owned, partially to give Slate some fresh air away from a place that may already know them, but also to see if there was even just some minor hope that maybe, just maybe, an answer could be found about it.

Abilities: Is able to form and dissolve her own "gemstones", sometimes in pieces, or forming around their body to create a protective shield. Forming them around her arms and hands seems to give some form of increased physical strength, as well.
